Non Executive Director
David Borger is a founding director and part owner of Think Planners. Although he does not work day to day at Think Planners, David provides strategic guidance to the firm and remains a key decision maker in the high level decisions of the organisation. David is enthusiastic about the current role and significant future of Western Sydney, and has been a key influence in Think Planners focus on Western Sydney.
David was appointed the inaugural Western Sydney Director of the Sydney Business Chamber in September 2012. The Sydney Business Chamber advocates for the needs of leading businesses in the Western Sydney area and its membership consists of chief executives of large corporations to significant property developers. In this role David sets the policy agenda by promoting discussion on issues that contribute to economic activity and growth in Western Sydney. He has been instrumental in the Badgerys Creek Airport, Powerhouse to Parramatta, and Sydney Olympic Park to Parramatta Light Rail advocacy conversations.
Prior to this, he served as and Minister for Roads, Minister assisting the Minister for Transport and Roads in the NSW Government, Minister for Housing, as well as Minister for Western Sydney in the NSW government.
As Housing Minister he oversaw the construction of approximately 9,000 new social housing dwellings – including 6,300 through the Nation Building Economic Stimulus Plan. David has also worked as an Urban Planner and adviser to the Minister for Planning.
He was also the youngest person, at 30 years of age, to hold the office of Lord Mayor of Parramatta where he served for three terms.
David currently serves as a non-executive director on Boards of The Sydney Festival, The Westmead Medical Research Foundation, Evolve Housing and Think Planners.
