CORPORATE

Sameer has extensive experience as a Town/Urban Planner in both the public and private sectors.

Sameer commenced his planning experience in Local Government at Blue Mountains City Council as a junior DA Planner and also was involved in the standard instrument process whilst working as a strategic planner at Blacktown City Council.

At the completion of his Bachelor Degree, Sameer joined a private urban planning firm.  While working by day, Sameer completed his Master’s Degree at Sydney University after hours, providing a strengthened academic appreciation of the planning system in Australia and overseas.

Sameer joined Think Planners in 2012 as the first step in the firm’s growth. Sameer is a valuable Senior Planner who has an excellent breadth of practical experience in statutory planning. Given Think Planners focus on Western Sydney, Sameer has an exceptional understanding of current, former and newly merged Councils and their planning controls in the region, including Penrith City, City of Parramatta, Cumberland Council, the Hills Council, Canterbury-Bankstown Council, Blacktown Council, Hornsby Council, and Fairfield Council.

Sameer’s strengths include preparing detailed and in-depth Statement of Environmental Effects for a wide range of development applications including but not limited to residential flat buildings, child care centres, industrial buildings, townhouses, duplex, dual occupancies, shop top housing, medical centres and also preparing comprehensive Social Impact Statements. Sameer also has an extensive understanding of the multiple planning controls that apply to each individual Sydney Council Area.

NON CORPORATE

Sameer is passionate about sports especially athletics. He not only trains and competes in the NSW Athletics sanctioned competitions but is also an Athletes Australia certified Level 1 Coach and gets tremendous joy in coaching/mentoring young people in athletics, predominantly running/sprinting. He is also involved in the administration level being a committee member of Mounties Athletics Club.

Sameer is also a foodie and enjoys driving all over the wider Sydney Metropolitan to try new and exciting restaurants.
